Chapter 6 - Revelations

--Chapter 5--                                                Home                                  --Chapter 7--

Whatever it was, a monster was creeping through the house. It headed for Grandma Renée and Phil’s bedroom, then in a split second, it broke Renée’s neck, then she screamed.
I sat up quickly, sweating. Renée had woke me up with an ear piercing scream. The clock on the wall said that it was 2:15am. I put on my robe and my slippers then rushed into the living room, where Renée was sitting on the sofa, staring at mom in fear, my family surrounding her.
‘What’s going on?’ I asked, but they all just stared at me, as if I were stupid, no one said a word.
‘Your grandma just saw us hunting,’ Aunt Alice told me.
‘What? How?’ I asked, and felt tears rolling down my face. Aunt Rosalie came over to comfort me. She sat me on the sofa and tucked me under her arm and cuddled me, humming my lullaby.
‘We were hunting close to the house, and your grandma had stepped out for a breath of fresh air after waking up. We didn’t smell or hear her until the last second.’ Grandpa Carlisle explained, rubbing the bridge of his nose. I noticed that Grandma Renée hadn’t moved.
‘I’ll get you both some water,’ Grandma Esme offered, then walked to the kitchen and returned with water. She offered Grandma Renée a glass, but she was frozen in that spot. Phil took one and drank it all in one. Grandma Renée was still frozen, and mom was sobbing, wrapped in dad’s arms, shaking as she cried.
Can I explain this all to her? I thought, knowing dad was reading my thoughts. He hesitated, then nodded, so I went over and sat next to her.
‘Grandma, I’m going to explain to you this whole thing, but I won’t speak, I’ll show you. It won’t hurt, I only have to touch your face,’ I explained. She didn’t move. I lifted my right hand, then slowly moved it, until it gently met her right cheek. I was showing her every last part of my memory, from my first sight of mom, explained about how we only drink the blood of animals, until now. I watched as her eyes widened as I progressed through the story. When I’d finished, I quickly removed my hand, then sat on it and bit my lip as she slowly turned her head to face me, her eyes fixing on my covered hand.
‘H...how did you do that?’ She stammered. Phil was staring at me, his mouth wide open.
‘It’s her gift, most of us have one, well Bella, Alice, Jasper and I have one,’ Dad explained ‘Renesmee has simply flipped Bella and mine to gain her own, as Bella’s gift is a mind block and I have the ability to read minds. Renesmee can get into other people’s minds and show them what she is thinking.’ I knew this would be difficult to understand. I got up from the sofa and went to my bedroom. I was extremely tired, so went straight to sleep.
